Psychotherapy and counselling, is a process in which a professional therapist assists individuals in exploring their thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and relationships. The term ‘counselling’ tends to refer to a short term, specific issue one wishes to work on, while “psychotherapy’ tends to refer to a longer term, more in-depth work. Both involve talk therapy with the aim to improve mental-wellbeing, address emotional challenges, and encourage personal growth.

A standard session is typically 50 minutes. As an initial session, Amy offers a 60 minute session to cover any administrative items, housekeeping and a little extra time to settle in. Longer sessions can be arranged for subsequent sessions. .

The number of therapy sessions needed varies by individual and the issues being addressed. Some clients may notice improvements after just a few sessions, while others may require longer-term therapy. This will be discussed and adjusted as therapy continues.

During the first session, Amy will likely ask about your personal history, current concerns, and goals for therapy. There will be a short discussion about the ‘housekeeping’ items. This initial session is an opportunity for you to get to know her, ask any questions, and decide if you feel comfortable working together.

Absolutely. Confidentiality is a key aspect of therapy. Amy will keep what you share private, except when she is legally required to disclose information (e.g. if there is a risk of harm to herself or others). You will be informed about these exceptions at the beginning of your first session, and they can be found on your consent form.

Yes! Amy offers teletherapy (online therapy) sessions to ensure that you can receive support from the comfort of your home or anywhere you feel comfortable. Online therapy can be just as effective as in-person sessions, depending on your needs.

You may be sent an email and/or SMS text message for confirmation and reminder purposes. If you would like to opt out of these communications, please raise this via email or in your session with Amy.

At least 48 hours' notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling. If you miss an appointment or cancel with less than 48 hours' notice, a cancellation fee of 50% will be incurred. If you cancel with less than 4 hours notice, a 100% session fee will be charged. Exceptions may be granted in the event of illness or extenuating circumstances.
Failure to provide sufficient notice and not attending a session within 10 minutes of the scheduled start time will be considered a cancellation/no-show and will be charged at the full session fee.

No. Unfortunately, counselling and psychotherapy services in Australia are not currently eligible for medicare rebates.

Payment is due at the time of booking unless alternative arrangements with Amy have been made. A receipt can be provided for potential private insurance reimbursement or tax purposes.
